Sarah Connell received a Ph.D. in English from Northeastern University in 2014; her dissertation research examines the ways that early modern writers incorporated medieval and poetic materials into their national histories, with a focus on disciplinary formations and constructions of nationalism. She is involved with several digital scholarship projects in the Boston area, including the Northeastern University Women Writers Project, the Early Caribbean Digital Archive, and the NULab for Texts, Maps, & Networks. Her current research activities include a text encoding project, Making Room in History, in which she is analyzing the ways that medieval and early modern writers invoked historical and legendary materials to construct arguments about sovereignty. Her research interests include medieval and early modern literature, Irish studies, the digital humanities, and early women’s literature.
She is currently working with Professor Diana Henderson on developing an online module on The Merchant of Venice for MITx.
